Health Education
The Health Education department provides our members with a wealth of tools, services and resources to promote health at every stage. We have two Health Education Centers in Santa Rosa. Our main campus center is located at our Santa Rosa Medical Center at 401 Bicentennial Way, MOB West, Suite 145. The other location is at the Richard Stein Campus, 3925 Old Redwood Highway, MOB 4, Suite 144.
The centers are a wonderful place for visitors to find educational materials on many health topics - from asthma to back care, from baby care to menopause. Videos, DVDs, audiotapes, CDs, and books are available for members to borrow at no charge. Pamphlets and computerized literature searches are also available for free.
The center staff can assist our members register on kp.org. While we can no longer reset members’ passwords if they are locked out of their account, we can show them how to reset the password themselves online or connect them to the kp.org call center for immediate assistance. Additionally, we provide online tours of the numerous features and tools, such as emailing a physician, refilling a prescription, checking some labs, and much more.
Many people learn best in a group when they can ask questions and meet other people dealing with the same issue. To meet these individuals’ needs, the Health Education Department offers many classes. Some are free; others require a fee. Many of the classes are open to the community.
For people who prefer a one-on-one consultation, our Clinical Health Educators (CHEs) work directly with physicians to help individuals make healthy lifestyle choices that fit who they are. CHEs provide guidance on everything from weight management to managing chronic conditions; from stress reduction to smoking cessation. Our Registered Dietitians (RD) assist members make the best food and nutrition decisions based on their individual needs. To see an RD, members need to speak with their medical practitioner about a referral.
