Bio

It is my responsibility to provide your family with up-to-date, personalized health care. My training allows me to care for people in all stages of life: newborns, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. I have particular interests in women's and adolescent health.

Going back a little, I was born in the Midwest and moved around a lot as a child, to the East Coast and, more recently, to the West Coast, where I received my undergraduate degree from UC Davis in Biological Sciences in 1992. I worked on an ambulance in the Bay Area for a few years before moving to Vermont, where I earned my medical degree from the University of Vermont in 1999. I stayed in New England to complete a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency program at Baystate Medical Center, affiliated with Tufts Medical School in Boston. I am now board certified to practice both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and have been practicing at Kaiser Permanente since September, 2003.

I moved back to this area in 2003 to be closer to family and to enjoy the benefits of Northern California living. I now live here in Santa Rosa with my husband and two daughters. Some of my patients have had to change physicians at Kaiser Permanente because their physicians have relocated, so I am often asked whether I plan to "stick around." I definitely do! I love living in Sonoma County and now have not only family nearby, but good friends and a great job.

My Medical Specialty

More details about my specialty:

I am board certified in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine because I enjoyed both and could not decide between the two.

My specialty interests and affiliations within my field:

I have a particularly strong interest in women's health and adolescent medicine. I especially enjoy newborn rounds in the hospital because it allows me to interact with new parents and their infant at a very special time.

An interesting story from my training:

Being pregnant as an intern and having an infant during residency taught me the challenges of parenting and being a doctor as well as having to overcome the sleep deprivation of both!

Family & Friends

People in my life:

My husband and I were introduced by one of my colleagues at Kaiser and have been together ever since. He is a wonderful partner and father.

My children and people I care about:

There is never a dull moment in our home with my precocious, soccer-loving, second-grader and her baby sister, constantly giggling at her big sister's antics.

Travel

An adventure I've had:

I have driven cross-country a handful of times. These trips always begin as adventures with no real "plans" other than to see friends and family along the way, but surprises always seem to come up. The most exciting (because it was so scary) experience I had during one of these trips was a harrowing late-night drive along the icy interstate through the Adirondacks in New York during a January "Nor'easter." I was desperate to finally get home in time to start classes again at medical school after the Christmas break. Ahhh, the relief as I finally boarded the last ferry to Vermont...

Favorite place in the world:

I love the ocean. I have walked along craggy cliffs in Maine and explored coral reefs in Florida's Keyes, but I also enjoy our foggy, serene coastline here in Northern California with its beautiful sunsets.

One of my recent trips:

My husband and I were in Kauai last year. It was beautiful!
